SP Page Builder Would Not Save A Page

SP Page Builder 3 years ago

Hi

In 2021, I moved as many as possible of my Joomla 3 pages over to Joomla 4. I would have a new Joomla 4 installation and export my SP Pagebuilder pages to JSON template files. Every website is thus recreated from scratch and not migrated from an old Joomla 3 page.

Today I received a request to add two addresses to an accordion menu. I made the adjustments, but the page would not save. The dots would circle on the save button forever.

I then closed the page, took SP Page Builder out of production mode, and tried again. The same happened.

My third attempt was to edit a small page (privacy policy) instead of the main page, which I could successfully save.

My fourth attempt was to export the main page to a JSON template file, create a new page and import it after making the necessary amendments. Again, the page would not save, and I am at my wit's end.

I use Joomla 4.1.0, SP Page Builder 3.8.3, and Helix Ultimate 2.0.7. The editor is the default Tiny JCE.

Please advise?

Hi Toufiq

I have rebuilt my client's website entirely with the new SP Page Builder component. The rebuild solved the problem of the page not wanting to save but created many more other issues. The component has changed so much that I had to spend many more hours than usual to go through a learning curve. Also, if you activate a row animation, you cannot deactivate it. You have to delete the row and recreate it. Very frustrating (and costly) is that the contact page does not work. To get the website functional again, I had to buy Convert Forms for 29 euros from Tassos Marinos.

Perhaps you do not understand that you can ruin a customer's business if you change a component. I hold Joomshaper responsible for the loss of time and expenses I had to make.

Hi

I subsequently logged into my other computer, clear the browsing data from the Chrome browser, but the problem remained. I then used my Edge browser and it gave the same results.

Hi there,

Thanks for contacting us. Sorry for the inconvenience. Your server blocked to load the resource of Page Builder. Please open your console & then click on network. After that click on save button.

Hi Toufiq

Thank you for your reply. I am not exactly sure what you mean? I went to SP Page Builder, and then I have to "inspect" some element on the page? I right-clicked on the [Save] button to "inspect" it, clicked on network, but to no avail.

I have also done a global checkin on the SP Page Builder table - to no avail.

Hi Toufiq

Yes, I have checked it and see that I have to right click and "inspect" the page. What to do from there I do not know.

I have now deleted the webpage files, the SQL database and user, and restored a version from January on the server. I updated the Akeeba, Helix framework and template, and SP Page Builder to the latest version. The problem remains.

I do not have this problem on the other 20 or more sites.

I deleted the site files and database and database user a second time, restored from a version in December. Everything remains the same. I cannot edit my website. I have a number of updates to do and this is getting urgent.

Hi Toufiq

Yes, the reinstallation from the backup removed the previous user. I have created it again as it was previously.

Thank you,

Francois

Hi Toufiq

That IP is not blocked.

This is not working. I cannot carry on like this. What do you suggest? Should I rebuild the whole website? All my other websites work perfectly and 90% of them are hosted on the same platform at the same host.

Regards,

Francois

I am now trying to rebuild the website, but cannot find the row paste function in the latest version of the program. Is SP Page Builder going backwards?

I cannot tell you HOW annoyed I am at this stage. I DO NOT HAVE THE TIME FOR THIS!!!!

The latest version of SP Page Builder is SO different from the previous version that my development speed is too low. The learning curve is too steep. I will have to find another way of building websites, but I cannot work with SP Page Builder any longer. You have no idea in what situation you have dumped me.

I have invested thousands of dollars, hours of website building and a lot of effort - and now this. You messed it all up.

Before I could duplicate images and just change the name of the image in the text - now I have to click and browse through all the way to the image - your new version is NOT an improvement on the old one.

Going back to the old version is also not an option because you will soon not support it any longer.

Sorry for that, but we don't have any license which price is thousands of dollars.

I am not talking about license fees by thousands of dollars of my time invested in my websites WHICH I CANNOT EDIT AND MAINTAIN BECAUSE SP PAGE BUILDER STOPPED WORKING SINCE ITS LATEST UPDATE.

I used to make long one pager sites, but as soon as you more than about five rows now, you cannot save the page anymore.

Hi Toufiq

I do not want a refund on my license - I am still using the product. I gave you the costs so that you can learn from the process what the consequences are from Joomshaper's malpractice. You released a product which was not ready and it is costing me money.

Can you give me a site backup using akeeba? I will check my end and let you know the update.

Hi Toufiq

I have now rebuilt the site for a third time, working out how I can get around the errors. What I determined was that as soon as a Text Block had more than about three to five lines on it, SP Page Builder would not save the page. If I delete the text again, it saves it.

I switched from TinyMCE editor to JCE, but the problem remained. I then added the Text Block's data into a custom HTML page and loaded the module - that way I work around SP Page Builder's faulty Text Block function.

The page is now functional and I will not spend another minute on it - it has cost me too much of my time as it is, I cannot afford to lose more.

From now on I will have to use my work around method for text - very annoying but it works. Also, I will rather use Tassos's contact form.

You can close the ticket.

Regards,

Francois Barnard

I have faced the same exact issue with 2 different websites using Sppagebuilder the past year, i had to rebuild entire 2 websites from scratch to avoid the newer version of sppagebuilder. Now i am facing the "loading not saving" issue with a third website and still cannot find a solution in the forums.

Toufiq, You say the server is blocking resource, i see the same error, but why was the saving page working yesterday and today suddenly not? also how to solve it?

Update: I found the solution and it worked (i made the $live_site empty in configuration.php) https://www.joomshaper.com/documentation/sp-page-builder/sp-page-builder-4/troubleshooting
