Thanks, but i would like to change the background of the whole page.

Here is what I finally figured out, which gives the desired result. I simply have to create a custom.css file.

Template Styles / Edit Style / {template name} / Template Options / Custom Code Click "Custom Code" and edit Custom CSS

So something as simple as body {background-color: darkgreen;} or body {background-color: #339933;} works.
