Easiest Way To Get Your Quickstart Template And Page Builder Layouts Onto My Current Site

SP Page Builder 3 years ago

I am asking a question about both the Quickstart and the SP Page Builder.

I want to change my site to use Gazette. I have replicated my site and assigned the site copy to use the Gazette template. I now need to create every page and view how you did it by using a copy of the Quickstart as my foundation. That is going to take a LOT of work.

Two Questions:

  1. Is it possible for me to zip a copy of the shaper_gazette folder from the Quickstart template and then copy those files onto the replication of our site where we are doing the site development in order to have all of the same settings and layout? I would then go in and edit all the paths to change things. I would also have to update my joomla version on the quickstart to ensure they are in sync.

  2. Is there also a way to copy the SP Page Builder files? or, are they already included when I copy the template folder? ie. are the Page Builder files stored within the template folder?

I am wanting to use SP Page Builder version 4 but think that maybe I should start now using SP Page Builder 3 so that I can match the quickstart more easily and then upgrade the site to Page Builder 4 at a later date.

The current site where I have the quickstart installed is at http://test3.theraliv.org I want to get the template settings onto our site at http://test1.theraliv.org

I have Helix Ultimate 2.0.5 on both sites I have the Gazette template 2.0.1 on both sites I have SP Page Builder 3.8.9 on test1 and 3.8.0 on test 3. I have another ticket asking for help to upgrade the quickstart without breaking the quickstart. I have Joomla version 4.2.4 on test1 and 4.2.0 on test3. I believe that upgrading Joomla on test3 will not break the quickstart.

My apologies again for putting in the wrong domain name. I did not remember how to add the new test subdomains in. Also, I wonder if you intend for test domains for development to be counted as one of the domains?

The export and import functionality is working now. A change to the database was require and found in the following ticket: https://www.joomshaper.com/forum/question/19246

Hello Sean Carney

  1. First install the Gazette template ZIP file on the new site. From the previous site, import the settings JSON file. Please follow this documentation. In this way, you will get all the template settings.
  2. In the similar way, you can export/import SP Page Builder pages, articles and modules. Please follow this documentation. But, pages created in SP Page Builder 4 might not work in SP Page Builder 3 and vice versa. So, in that case, you have to re-create the pages.

Best regards

Thank you. I had missed the step about importing the JSON file and that is probably why I have been having so many problems. I will do this right now and report back to you. I am grateful for your guidance here!

Ofi, I have not yet accepted the answer only because the import of the JSON file does not appear to be working. I am going to give you a link shortly to an image to show how after exporting the settings from http://test3.theraliv.org and then importing the settings into http://test1.theraliv.org the settings for the Layout in the Layout Builder are not the same.

I am hoping this link will show you how the Layout Builder Layout settings are different even though I Exported the settings from the screen on the right (test3.theraliv.org) and Imported the settings into the screen on the left (test1.theraliv.org) https://drive.google.com/file/d/183GwhjrJQbskrwp31bL8RM4nGTzO-ACV/view?usp=sharing BTW, I have another ticket with this same information in it which is being looked at by Paul, but I am going to suggest to him that he not reply there but allow you to reply here. Thanks again. Sean

BTW, I exported and imported the settings using the Advanced tab at the bottom of the Template Options. I am placing access instructions for both sites in case you want to check this out. In the meantime I have to stop development.

The video link is not public and asking for permission. Please share the public link of the video. Also, test1 site access does not work. Please check and share the correct credentials. I will check the Export/Import settings issue.

Thank you very much. I just changed the folder and file on the Google drive to allow anybody with the link to see the file. Sorry about the inconvenience!

I also added the joomshapers login and password to the Joomla administrator backend. Sorry about that. I must have created it on my other test site.

I am eager to hear from you on this. It looks like bugs to me but, I have thought that plenty of times before only to find that the error was on my side. So, I await your verdict. :-)

Hopefully you have been able to catch up on some of your hotter fires and will be able to take a look at this today.

BTW, I am using PHP Version 8.1.12 in case that makes a difference to your software. Should I back down to an older version like 8.0.25?

Hello Sean

Sorry for the delay. I was on leave.

I have checked both the sites and screenshots. The difference I have found between the two sites are the PHP version. Gazette is not ready for PHP 8.1. Please use at most PHP 8.0 and it will work fine.

Here are my versions that are all matching up now between test3 and test1:

Helix Ultimate 2.0.11
Gazette 2.0.1
SP Page Builder Pro 3.8.9
Joomla 4.2.5
PHP 8.0.25

The export from test3.theraliv.org to test1.theraliv.org is still not working in that after the import into test1.theraliv.org the Layout Builder is still different. Do you have any more ideas how I might be able to get those settings to match?

Could you try to export from test3.theraliv.org and then import it into test1.theraliv.org and see if it works for you. I do see two little messages at the bottom of the page after that import that says that the import was successful and also says that the import was not successful. Very odd messaging. :-)
