SPPB 4.X Navigation

SP Page Builder 2 years ago

Hi there.

I'm sure that others have seen this problem and don't know if anything has been done to address it yet. Having moved from Page Builder version 3.X to now using version 4.0.X, here are my observations:

  1. The first thing I note is the somewhat annoying splash screen. I recognise that it can be set not to show again after first load but I can't understand why it's needed in the first place?
  2. The next frustration is when I'm looking at the Pages list I can click on the title of one of them to edit it. But the page to be edited always loads in a new tab in my browser which is quite unnecessary.
  3. When editing the page, I see in the top right hand corner a three dots icon.
  4. Clicking Save & Close I am correctly returned to the Pages List but my initial Pages List tab is still open, so now I have two Pages List tabs.

Over a period of several edits of different pages I can quite easily end up with half a dozen Pages List tabs open which is ridiculous and unnecessary

Can I suggest therefore that you change code on the Pages listing so that when a page is shown in the list, its <a href> link does not have the ' target="blank" ' attribute? Simply make it behave like it did in version 3?

Thanks C

agreed .... its absolutely rediculous ... ive had as many as 20 tabs open ..... if the developers think thats normal, id like to know the reasoning for their logic. i will NEVER use version 4 until this behavour is fixed and it has a proper backend!

Hi there,

I appreciate you reaching out. I sincerely apologize for this oversight. Is it possible to share an screencast video about the full scenario? It would be great to understand your issue. Another thing is, is it possible to share Joomla administrator access via hidden content area?

-Thanks

Chris ... SPPB 4 is very flawed and is really only Beta ready .... the tabs opening issue has been reported many many times .... they know all about it..... search for threads on this. im sticking with version 3 until 4 is fixed.

Kieron, you msy be correct and in a few of my sites I'm still using SPPB3 on a J4! site.

The fix for my issue is simplicy itself so should be doable quickly!

there are other anomalies with SPPB4 that im trying to grasp and plan to escalate. V4 has a load of potential. all it needs is a concerted effort from Joomshaper to investigate and fix.

im not very keen on acting as a debugger though!

@Chris Elliott Please ignore to use the shortcode inside the page builder & Will you please provide me the Joomla administrator access to check the issue? Thanks

Hi there

I'm unsure why you are referring to not adding shortcodes?? this post has nothing to do with shortcodes?

As for admin access... by asking for admin access, I'm presuming that you dont see this issue at all at your side? Is this correct? Did you watch the video capture?

I'd rather not have a tweak applied to my site (this affects all of my SPPB4 sites and i have a few), I would rather wait for it to be fixed in the next release.

Can you let me know what you'd do if you had admin access?

I have discussed with our developer team about go back page list and they said it's normal. Thanks

It may be 'normal'. If thats the case, why did SPPB3 not do this?

Its a totally unnecessary step to open an SPPB page in edit mode in a new tab.

So, if it is normal, I'd be interested to hear why.

looking at the description of the issue in your screen shot, its too ambiguous.

it would be much clearer to state 'OnClick of a page title in Pages list should NOT open page to be edited in a new tab'.

OnClick of a page title in Pages list should NOT open page to be edited in a new tab

It was initial feature and after user request we had to change it.
