"Edit Page" Button Showing To All Website Visitors!

SP Page Builder 2 years ago

Hello -

When I turn on Frontend editing in SP Page Builder, it shows the "Edit Page" button to ALL website visitors. Not only that, but any visitor can click the button and possibly edit the page.

This seems like a big security flaw. What am I doing wrong?

Is there a way to set permissions so that only super users can access the frontend editing?

For now, I disabled frontend editing and also set the button css to visibility:hidden.

Thank you!

Hello Tad

It looks like the permission is set to Public or Guest. Please share your administrator access here to check the issue. Use the Hidden Content box to share the credentials. Make sure that you have a full site backup with you before sharing.

Best regards

Hi Ofi - Please see the access information in hidden content. Please advise on how to fix this issue so the public cannot edit the homepage, and I don't need to hide the Edit button with CSS.

Thanks!

Please share your SUPER USER access and if you have hidden Edit Page with CSS, then cancel it and show it. I will fix the issue.

Hello - you are now a super user.

Can you please fix the issue, then I will unhide the Edit Page button? In the meantime, you can unhide it using the Inspect tool. I would prefer people not have the opportunity to edit my homepage between now and when you fix it (the site gets 5-10k visitors/day).

I have removed the CSS from Template Options -> Custom Code -> Custom CSS

#sp-page-builder .sp-pagebuilder-page-edit {
  visibility: hidden;
}

I do not see Edit Page Button. You must log in in the frontend to see it. I do not see any issues here.

We use cloudflare as a CDN, so you usually won't see updates go live for a few days. I cleared cache on the homepage and don't see the Edit Page button anymore.

As of now, I have the Frontend Editing option turned on, I'm logged into the front end, I cleared Cloudflare cache, and I can see the Edit Page button. In a different browser or on VPN, I can't see the Edit Page button.

Seems like it's working now. Thanks!
