Issues Encountered With SP PageBuilder 5.1.18 On Joomla

SP Page Builder 2 years ago

Dear Support Team,

I recently took the plunge and upgraded to the latest version of SP PageBuilder (5.1.18) after much consideration. I've noticed significant improvements over the previous version I tested (5.0.6). However, I've encountered a number of minor issues, despite this version being perfectly suitable for production use.

The main issue arises with the management of the browser tabs causing some frustrations . Allow me to elaborate: I created a new article in Joomla, adding the desired tags along with all the necessary SEO and OpenGraph data. After saving the page and proceeding to the content with the Backend editor, SP PageBuilder prompted me to save my page before using its features. Upon saving, SP PageBuilder opened a new tab where I could add my content. After finishing, I found myself with the article opened in multiple tabs, leading to confusion about whether to save the article, risking overwriting updated data with content from old tabs. It would be much better not to open new windows each time SPPageBuilder is requested...

Additionally, when creating associated pages in the article editor (my website is trilingual), the links to the other languages seem to get lost. I find myself having to exit the page and recreate links with the associated pages. This is not a deal-breaker but does require a change in routine.

Another minor yet frustrating issue is the formatting of text blocks when pasting content from the local database. The first paragraph formats correctly according to the paragraph definitions, but from the second paragraph onwards, the system applies fonts, sizes, etc., that I did not specify. Here is what I mean...:

p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Arial;" (As code is not allowed here, i removed most of the code... as the form keeps sayint "invalid token") but I guess you understand what I mean.)

. Therefore, I have to enlarge the editing screen and reapply the "paragraph" format manually. It's inconvenient that this isn't possible on the main screen, where only the A!-A6 tags are applicable.

I appreciate any assistance you can provide to resolve these issues, which would greatly enhance the user experience and efficiency of SP PageBuilder on Joomla.

Best regards, Jean-Marie Putz https://www.travel-video.info

euh... anyone at Joomshaper? Is it the summer holidays or the annual inventory? or is my ticket considered as not important? I am not used to wait for one week on the first comment from a Joomla publisher...

I will not lose more time with it.... I have set up a workaround and it is fine for me now. I use the JCE editor everywhere now, limiting my use of SP PageBuilder to a minimum, just for the page layout. By the way, the Google Maps module (I use the Pagebuilder add-on for it) does not work. I will have to find another app for displaying the maps, which are very important for me. I did not submit a ticket vor this yet, because of the long time needed to get an answer. But if you tell me there is a chance I get a quick response, I can submit another ticket for this.

I will post it myself. There is more to say about this issue than simply "Google Maps doesn't work".

Hi Jean-Marie, of course you can add Code here. Use the Code Icon above the Text field that looks like "</>" or CTRL-ALT-C.

The "invalid token" error message is happening when you write too long and are getting logged out. Reload the page and you will see the responding error message. To prevent this stupid "Feature" you should always copy your final text before you press the "Post Answer" Button.

thanks BOFHJunior. I'll try this next time. But you must know I never enter text right in the forum. I always copy it from another local text app or for code, directly from my database, just to avoid any time out. I have learned this during my 40 years carreer in IT..

Hi Jean-Marie, hehe we think the same but i only have half the years in IT experience. ;-)

Regarding Invalid Token after Copying your text into a new Post, then it must be another issue. I was facing this error message before only when writing long posts and then pressing the "Post Reply" Button, only to realize that I had a timout. So i learned to copy each text before i press the Button.

Maybe the Support can say something to that issue?

Hi Mehtaz... I understand I can close the post by accepting an answer. Question is: where is the answer? I found a workaround, but this does not suppress the problem which is real. So when I get an asnwer, I can close the post, at least if I am satisfied with that answer... (this post does not go primarily on Google Maps problems...)

Hi,

1st Have inserted correct Google Maps API in SPPB Options?

2nd idea: Maybe use Open Streets Maps addon instead which is free (no paid API). It cover almost this same areas, so if your location is popular it should be.

3rd idea: Go to Google Maps website, find your location - generate Embed code and use it inside Raw HTML addon. This always works (99,9%).

And also please check API code is updated or not.

or other solution... let your development team have a look on it.

My website has about 2200 pages and about 650 of them have a Google Map on it, some with more than 10 locations all over the world (see an example on https://www.travel-video.info/inde-rajasthan-et-varanasi-2015.html . Of course this page was made with version 3 of Sppg (and is unchanged), because it is correct). Changing to Open Street Maps would mean a huge work. Further I used this before and it is absolutely not the same as Google Maps. And I am happy to pay for Google Maps because of the quality (fortunately, I do not have enough visitors to reach the threshold from which they begin to bill...)

Of course I have inserted the correct Google Maps API in SPPB Option. Op more precisely, it was inserted in version 3, which worked perfectly, and I have checked it in version 5 as it is ajtomatically kept. So this is not the problem.

If you send me to Google Maps website to generate enbed code, (which would represent a further increase in the time required to post a page), why do you keep this add-on in the catalog?

What do you mean wit "updated API code"? Do you mean I have to check if the code in the settings of Sppb is the same as in my Google Apis console? If this is the case, I have done it.

Further, I have opened a specific ticket about Google Maps (https://www.joomshaper.com/forum/question/29085)
The present topic is about something completely different, and remains unaswered.
