Instagram Feed - Generate Token - Error when trying to Login with FB account

Asked by Alexander Schnaller 2 years ago Last activity 2 years ago

Hello community, dear support,

may i am stupid, but i can't manage to generate the needed token for getting access to our Instagram Feed to use it on our page at a instagram gallery...

webpage running on Joomla5 and SPPageBuilder 5.1.8 - everything else works nice ... but Insta Feed ...

what i tried / did:

  • managed to create a FB App in our FB Account

  • set FB Account / Insta Account to business to link em up

  • linked that FB App with Instagram account

  • finally found the needed FB App ID and the FB App secret

  • tried to generate the token - getting me an error :(

    Sorry, something went wrong.
We're working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.
    Go Back

  • clicking on Go Back landing on our FB Account...

Can anybody pls tell me what i noob doing wrong here?

Thanks a lot - trying now 3 days long... reading endless help pages from FB and Insta but couldn't get it solved :o(

Please check in this settings. You have to add your site URL (check the hidden content for the URL) in Valid OAuth Redirect URIs.

Hallo Alexander,

Regarding Instagram: have the same problem and will take care of it tomorrow. :)

Hi Martin,

Datenschutz und Impressum ist nun im footer der Seite ... hatte es zwar bereits drauf, aber nicht auf jeder Seite mit zwei Klicks erreichbar wie offiziell gefordert :)
danke für den Hinweis.

Hello Alexander Schnaller

Please follow this documentation. I have also made a tutorial on How to setup Instagram Gallery Addon. Please follow the steps in the tutorial. Make sure that you have checked the additional steps in the description too.

Best regards

Hi Ofi,

sorry to say, but i found a similar post from years before and tried it like this but it doesn't solve my problem as well - therefor i wrote this topic here.

In your video at 5:05 you are getting to a step where i can't go - because i am getting an error the page before ... where i should login to FB ... there I am getting the "Sorry something went wrong" error and I only can click on "back" to came back to our FB Site (normally logged in)

In SP Page Builder I can click SAVE then but nothing happens - no token was generated.

I tried so untick the FB & Insta connection to do it again, and come back to the same result again.

On my webpage I am getting in the Instagram Gallery Addon Modul then
"No item found! Please make sure that your Instagram User ID and Access Token is correct"

why is it that hard to connect to Insta needing an stupid FB App to get it done ?!

Would you please be so kind and try it with new Joomla 5 and SPPageBuilder 5.1.8 to get it ready ?
I think there's somewhere a bug, otherwise I can't imagine why it shouldn't work as told in your video.

thanks for your help so far.

Apology for the inconvenience. Please share your administrator access here to check the issue. Use the Hidden Content box to share the credentials. Make sure that you have a full site backup with you before sharing.

I have checked it with my access and it is working fine. Maybe your app set up is not correct. Please check that your app is in development mode. Then strictly follow my tutorial.

Hi Ofi,

I am not sure what I am doing wrong, I created a new app in FB and checked each step twice in your video documentation - but it all times says that the same error message when i try to get the Insta Token in SP Page Builder Settings.

New FB App is in development mode , App-Typ: Business , App-ID (down in hidden box)

thanks again sir

kind regards
Alex

Hi Ofi,

thank you so much... that did the trick - i didn't reset the Redirect URI to the new app...

i had to insert the FB Business Login to my app and then set the correct redirect URI

https://your-domain.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_sppagebuilder&task=instagram.accessToken

and then tick the "Embedded Browser OAuth Login" - then i got the right access to create the nessacary token for my page.

@Ofi - would you be here - I would spend you some liters of cold beer :)

kind regards
Alex
