I have created a Saved Item block. If I wish to change that saved item, for example update an image how do I edit the Saved item block so it changes and then updated across every Page I have built?

Hi Lee,

You cannot edit them. But you can import, then Edit/Customize and Save as new version of Block. You can also delete blocks that you don't need any more.

This is the only way. Also that's why you haven't seen any edit icon on saved items.

Paul, Thanks for thew reply. That is really frustrating to hear.

It would be a great opportunity to add this to a future release. I have used Saved Items on multiple pages, for example a callout to a downloadable catalogue document with image text etc.

Over time this document is updated with new information, cover graphic etc. I would like to then simply open my Saved item, change the cover image and text, save this and have it update across all the pages on my site. Similar to a core Joomla module, I can update and it is done across the site.

The Saved Items option seems very limited!

OMG really? This sucks.

And how do you put a saved item into the layout? Drag and drop doesn't do shit.

It works. There is whole video on youtube how you can use Saved addons & Saved rows.
You can also export whole Page and use it later.

I can create a new video if somehow it may help you.

Hi Paweł, long time no see : ) Yeah, after refreshing the page it started to work somehow.

But I guess those saved elements are not editable, so you can't treat them like personal templates for areas, right? Even in SPPB6? IMO it's a must...

Import/export is partial solution in such case.

Cheers!

Video for new SPPB 6.x > https://youtu.be/Fdoe-7T-Lxw

Indeed, you have to import them, edit, and resave as a new ones. I use that feature all the time.

Yeah but you have to exchange the instances wherever used? It won't update automatically where they had been used... Elementor has something like this for WP ; )

Yes, I know, but let's to be honest, how many seconds you will save if you import-edit-save-delete-old vs edit-save ?

Probably some changes are planned also in that area, but not in next weeks.

Yeah but if it's multiple instances, you have to find it, remove, import, setup, etc.

In long term yes, if you have more than 30 saved items, it takes extra seconds, and webmaster life is too short ;p hahah

Just a quickie because you might be online just now ; ) So there is no built in menu solution in SP Builder 6, I have to either use Helix Ultimate for this or somehow code the one that Builder shows, the basic ul-li visuals? Isn't it a missing element among all the blocks and layouts and stuff like that? I would expect some 2-3 menu types among those?

There is Navigation addon that can be used as simple Menu. Or you can use extra installed MegaMenu module inside Module addon. I tested a few different menu modules as worked.

And Helix or any other template you can use as needed by Joomla template (the same is in WordPress) only to display component view inside.

But you mean external solutions, nothing bundled with SPPB6Pro?

Read again what I wrote above.

In big short:

  1. Simple Menu > Navigation addon
  2. Advanced Menu with submenu items > use MegaMenu from Helix Ultimate template or external MegaMenu module.

Webmasters on this forum use all those solutions.

Read 3 times, it didn't answer my question about whether anything more was possible with SP Builder 6 Pro.

  1. I know, basically useless (e.g. no dropdown behavior).
  2. OK.

So my opinion: there should be some kind of pre-styled menu within the layers/components of SP Builder 6 Pro... there are so many things there but navigation is also (maybe the most) important.

In all our templates we use Helix Ultimate MegaMenu. That's why so we don't need advanced Menu addon, maybe in near future.

On JED you can find a few Menu modules that you can use in template position or inside Module addon. Think out the box.

You can still use Menu from template, even Casiopea has it.
