Upgrade Caused Pagebuilder Page To Disappear

Template 3 years ago

I have just upgraded to the latest version of the "rhino"template and "pagebuilder". Both of these actions (I uninstalled to see if it was just one of them causing the issue) caused a page builder page I have in a module on my home page to disappear (as well as a Roksprocket page on another page of the site).

As can be seen on wildlifethailand.com, the pagebuilder page was in the big white empty space on the homepage.

Site is latest versions of Joomla, Kunena, Rhino template, PSpagebuilder. Helix is shown as 2.5.6

It worked! By creating the missing directories in the template structure and adding the adjusted "compontentarea.php" file

I am all up to date now.

Hi there,

Thanks for contacting us. Sorry for the inconvenience. I have checked after disabling the module of page builder. But, Problem remains in the home page. I think this problem is not came from Page Builder. Cause, I have checked the Joomla Protostar Template and it gives also a error.

Hi Toufiq,

After some playing this morning I think the issue is the module position. I was using the "above" position, but that does not seem to work anymore (using it shows the blank space on both the missing items). Was the "above" position replaced in the update?

Update: I have confirmed its the module postion and I think the culprit may be that the upgrade somehow overwrote something to do with regular labs module manager assigning "above" to "component".

Is there any way to assign a module into the "component" position in helix or with joomshaper template?

Hi there,

Thanks for the clarification. Mainly you can load module into the positions, inside the articles, inside the page builder using module addon. But, You cannot place it directly inside the component area of Joomla. So, Where and what exactly do you want? Can you share a screenshot? I will try help you. In the meantime, please read the Helix documentation.

-Thanks

Hi Toufiq, thanks for your ogoing help, it very much appreciated - I have spent the day figuring out what the developer must have done when the site was set up some years ago.

After a lot of rooting around and loading/unloading I believe they created an "above" and "below" position using:

https://archive.joomshaper.com/forums/module-position-before-and-after-component

Instead of putting the file where the above linked instructions (link above) say - they infact altered "componentarea.php" directly. Probably because the directory recommended in the instructions does not exist in my sites template structure. As per the write up in the link the "above" position exists but it cannot be seen in Helix as there is no XML change.

This is where my problem came I think, because when I tried to upgrade Helix, or the Template, or the newer pagebuilder I believe this file "componentarea.php" was overwritten causing the hidden (but existing) "above" and "below" positions to be overwritten and therefore non-existent . Hence my disappearing modules assigned to the "above" position.

At this stage I am thinking to do the upgrade again and then replace the new "componentarea.php" with my existing one - but that would mean I would have to do this each time I do an upgrade - any suggestions?

Thanks!!
