Template and Template Settings?

Some templates e.g. Elva have a Template and Template Settings available for download.

Why? What am I supposed to do with the settings?

Please document this, or at least make it easier to find.

i really dont know how to explain it any other way.

What am I supposed to do with the Template Settings file that's available to download with many templates?

Its not documented anywhere on your website.

Hi johnny,

Well, if you use the quickstart pack then you do not need to use anything else from the download section, as the quickstart pack includes all the necessary components and demo contens also. It includes Joomla too.

On the other hands, if you use the template pack to design the site as you wish from scratch, then it comes with a really basic structure only. So you can use template settings in this case to get basic settings of the template. It will download as .json file which you need to use within the export/import section in the advanced tab of your Template Options.

I had the same question. It would be helpful if this bit would be included in your official documentation.

Follow-on scenario and questions:

We already have an existing site built from scratch on HU. Our intent is to revamp the site on the Flow template. I want to install the Flow template as a second template (not default) so I can start playing with creating new and modifying copies of existing pages, but using the settings and pages from the demo Flow template.

Questions:

  1. Can I do this withough corrupting our existing site using the default HU template?
  2. If I download and import the template settings from Joomshaper (attached), will it create the demo pages? Exactly what template "settings" are imported from the downloadable settings packages?     • I don't want to install the full quickstart package since I don't want to replace our existing site. However, suspect I will need to manually copy over the files to make demo resource graphics and other demo customizations available. Please confirm if this is true.
  3. Will Flow Demo template bundled page layouts become available for new pages after importing "settings"?
