Hello everyone,

We want to acknowledge the issues some of you have been experiencing with the current tax system on EasyStore. In response, we've started a major overhaul of the system to address these challenges. Since tax regulations vary by location, we're tackling these differences to ensure a smoother and more reliable experience for our users. Our team is currently focused on revamping the entire tax feature, which we believe will resolve many of the ongoing issues.

Please rest assured that JoomShaper is deeply committed to customer satisfaction, and we are dedicated to ensuring the reliability of our products. Since this is a significant update, we might release a beta version first, aiming to get it to you sooner. The projected release date for the full update is mid-September 2024.

We appreciate your patience as we work on this important update. We will keep you informed of our progress in the coming days. Thank you for your understanding.

This is just a maintenance update. Please rest assured that the team has been working for over a month to revamp the tax system on EasyStore. It’s not just a few lines of code to fix; the entire architecture is being rewritten for EU users. We believe we can deliver on the promised timeline.

Please ,we are begging already since the first version about that. maybe you think a bit too complicated. we just need to display instead of an exclusive + VAT price the full inclusive price. different countries have different taxes all around the world. if we sell in germany with 19 % tax the amount displayed should simply show the price including that 19% and not excluding as its now.

I was given access to a beta version of this release earlier today and am doing dinner testing at the moment. I can confirm that there is substantial change to the tax system, including a nice checkbox which simply says "product prices already include tax" - this is a godsend for anyone who doesn't want to have to re-price every single item.

I can't confirm a final release date, but hopefully soon...

As discussed in https://www.joomshaper.com/forum/question/35325, products with tax included in the shown prices are not dealt with correctly in 1.3.0 at the moment.

I reported this twice during the beta phase and had hoped (was told) it was resolved. Unfortunately testing today shows the issues still exist.

@Kawshar Ahmed - there is also a serious bug in the coupon system. See https://www.joomshaper.com/forum/question/35330

I should not have to find these bugs for you. It seems there is very little testing performed by JoomShaper before this "product" is released. When testers are invited to help, they are their reports then don't seem to get fixed either!

@ Stuart Clarks: Let me know if you now start to develop your own shop extension .-) I would be happy to become your first customer and I suspect that I will have a functioning shop up and running faster than with easystore.

@Kawshar: That there are still one or two bugs on Joomshaper's part, ok - but that it is only today, after the long-awaited release of the tax update, that it is apparently understood that we need a stated VAT in checkout + invoice (at least in the EU) - I somehow feel like I'm in a satirical film.

Sorry, Joomshaper - great performance can be done differently...

@Holger - I'm not a developer, otherwise I absolutely would write my own shop extension. It seems I know better how one is meant to work!

I want EasyStore to succeed, I want it to be an useful product as it has great potential. Unfortunately it is now over a year since it was initially launched, and we are still facing such fundamental bugs as to make it almost un-usable on any production website, especially one in the EU. It is very, very disappointing that paying customers are still being used as beta testers; and still being unable to safely deploy this product after such a long time!

In my opinion JoomShaper need to spend the next 2 to 3 months focussing solely on resolving all bugs and missing fundamental features in EasyStore, before releasing any other templates / extensions. They need to have a complete change of mentality towards the quality of the code and the completeness of the testing carried out; and most importantly they need to engage with and listen to their customers FAR more - the customers clearly know how this product should work FAR better than JoomShaper do!

Hello MiBa

You can use Tax Override feature. For example, you set a tax rate for one country. Then you can set a different rate for a specific category and so. Please follow the documentation:

Hello Holger

I have checked this but could not reproduce your issue. After you select Shipping Address Country and State the included Tax will show. It is calculated based on your shipping address since you can have multiple Tax set for different countries.

This is my settings:

Global Tax settings: prnt.sc/bjEuv7gt7bAw

On the Checkout page: prnt.sc/jXFxFvrVXA1g

EasyStore 1.3.1 STILL has bugs in it's tax processing and payment handling systems. This time it is charging customers too much money on checkout for items with the tax already included.

I reported this to JoomShaper yesterday BEFORE this was released - it's a pity I was ignored!

Unfortunately, as a customer you get the feeling that Joomshaper is developing (and marketing) a shop system completely clueless and without any knowledge of its requirements. It feels as if I were developing a car myself and after every screw I was amazed to be told that it also needed tires and much more.-)

I reported this to Toufiq last night.

It is very simple to test, just set up a tax rule and set a product to already have tax included. once you hit "checkout" - see how much the payment gateway is trying to charge.

This is a SIMPLE 2 minute test and something that really should have been picked up before shipping the update! Especially when JoomShaper had been informed of it!

As no one from JoomShaper has updated this thread, I will do so.

EasyStore 1.3.3 has been released - it finally fixes all the payment and shipping bugs that I (and others) have found with the tax implementation, and it is now finally possible to have different tax rates for different product categories within EasyStore. It is also possible to override on a per product basis to not include tax at all.

Product prices can be entered as NET or GROSS in EasyStore (i.e. tax to be added or tax included) and the tax element is displayed either within or seperately from the product.

Finally, it is possible to add tax to shipping rates, even if there's no tax being charged on the product.

Overall, a good update!

I don't know if anyone is already dealing with this, but the VAT amount of different tax rates CANNOT be merged and put in one line on the invoice. If there are two different tax rates, each must be on a separate line. The invoice MUST include the seller's VAT (if any) and the company ID. Where do I enter it in easystore?

Showing the price with tax based on the users store/shipping location in the United States is a problem. We only collect tax by default, at least in Tennessee, if we are shipping to Tennessee. The rest of the 49 states and territories: we do not collect taxes. That's 98% of my US sales and ALL of my global sales that I am NOT collecting taxes on and should not be showing that to my guest users. I do "contact me" global sales because EasyStore is not great at calculating international shipping and doesn't incorporate shipper API's for calculation. The point at which they pick USA (only choice) and then Tennessee is the ONLY point that anyone should be seeing an added tax. I thought choosing "Tax should be calculated & displayed in the checkout page" would take price OFF of all of the items and cart. I see in your documents where you say that prices with tax will be calculated based on the store's location and the tax rate there, but that is NOT what the default behavior needs to be. This is awful and misleading, especially for my international customers that aren't charged Tennessee taxes. Please adjust this design decision quickly; either give me a setting to turn this off or change the default behavior.

Yes, I have it setup for a 9.5% for Tennessee and a 0% for the rest of the US states. That calculates and works fine at checkout.

My problem is that Guests are seeing a 9.5% added sales tax while shopping on the product pages and in the side bar cart based on my location. 99% of my customers are NOT going to have to pay that tax; therefore we should not be showing them that tax. Taxes should ONLY be shown once their location has definitely been determined on the checkout page. This needs to be changed.

If I choose United States of America -> Tennessee, then there is 20% tax added according to my tax setting, What is your shop location?

Right, but setup your shop in Tennessee with the Tennessee tax. ALL of your Guest customers will see the 9.5% tax on all items on the product details page and the side cart until they go to checkout, at which point it will strip the tax prices. If they change to a non-TN state, it will stay 0. If they choose TN, it will then add the tax. This is confusing default behavior.

I am still unable to get it. But this is what I see. I set my shop location to United States of America -> Tennessee. On Shop page or Product Details page, it is shown with tax. On checkout page, it does not show with the tax. This is the default behavior now. On checkout page, when the customer enters the address, the tax will be shown according to his address.

THAT IS TERRIBLE DEFAULT BEHAVIOR. I don't know how else to drill this.

You should NOT assume that everyone is going to get charged a tax and then figure it out later.

This is honestly so stupid, it's about to push me back to Hikashop. How do you guys not get that you should not be showing incorrect prices to people? Your guest checkout always seems like an afterthought. Btw, in one of your recent updates, States no longer show up on the order page. I get name, address, city, zip.. no state. I look up in the database, get a code and have to cross reference it to the state table OR google the zipcode. BTW, try out darkmode some time and see how many hard coded css lightmode things yall have; it's awful. Sometimes, it really feels like amatuer hour here.

Dark mode in Joomla is really nightmare. It is hard to deal with in most of the products. However, I have talked about the issue with the developer team about guest checkout. They will think about your suggestion for the future versions.

State not loading in order issue will be fixed in the next release. Thanks for finding this.
