Hi thanks for the prompt response and apoligies for the delay in resonding.

Just to update you on what I have tried. I have created a new main menu item 'Test' and used Main menu item> Articles - category blog
Choose a category - blog That also produced a 404.

I then changed it Main menu item> Articles - single article Select Article - (article) Making of a Legacy That also produced a 404.

I also unpublished all the items in the Company menu (which replicates the Main menu) I've never seen this layer of before???

Since my last response, I have deleted and reinstalled the template file on my Joomla backend ans while the template has reinstalled as the original, there are two noticalbel differences. 1. the module near the bottom titeld: "Easy to use and customize" Has the grey background I set and all the main menu links return a 404. This kind of makes me think this problem is at the local host end, is that a possibility?

Apoligies, it seems some digits were added to the database i.e. bak.soft. xxxxx instead of just soft.xxxxx. Now even I cannot access the site. So, I have decided to delete the complete installation and start again.
