Hi there. I know it is not possible to just upgrade from Helix3 to Ultimate.

Please provide a tutorial how to migrate a theme made by Joomshaper e.g. Kidzy (based on deprecated Helix3) to Helix Ultimate.

Thanks in advance!

Hi

Thanks for contacting us. Create copy of your site, install it on subdomain. Install Helix Ultimate, set it as default template. Delete Helix 3 and Helix 3 Plugin. Only after that you can work with Helix Ultimate. After finishing development, transfer the site to the main domain.

NOTE: Please keep a full site backup before making any changes.

In general, it won't be easy job to convert Kidzy Helix3 to Helix Ultimate. Possible, but you can spend many hours on that. Are you ready for that challenge?

For sure, you have to use template.css from orginal template inside a new, custom.css - and removing CSS lines that are redundant.

Thanks Mehtaz! Hi Paul, sounds like a learning field. I would definetly give it a try. Friends of mine just foundet a school (a year ago) and I help them with the website. I think it's worth it, because I already worked with helix ultimate and it is much easier. Especially for them.

Would you share some suggestions with me?

If you don't have CSS skills, I would keep as it's now! Remember that you are operating the content of the site on a daily basis, and template settings are not what you need to focus on that much.

In case of small php problems you can always use orginal files from Helix3 template.

I just migrated the site like Mehtaz described and encountered the challenges Paul mentioned.

That's why as first step - you have to use CSS styles from old site, and they are inside template.css file. I'm afraid that our support does not include template migration.

Hey Paul! I will try to implement the old CSS styles from the template.css you mentioned now. Thanks so far. And thanks for the hidden hint ;)

Offtopic: Why does Joomshaper decide to update old sides like "kidzy" with the outdated framework helix3? Why not migrating to helix ultimate and provide an updated template based on an updated framework?

Hey Paul, I just asked AI to do the job for me :) The outcome is more or less acceptable. Would you have a look and give me a hint where to investigate to

  • get the underlining when hover in menu working and
  • the hover effect in the 2nd section (4 images)?

Would be awesome!

In that task AI won't help, it's a job for human, still.

As example for Menu - copy those lines 44 - 266 from template.css file.

But remember that in that template that font was used > font-family: "kidzyicon" !important; to get underline effect. So you have to copy file and load it in header, as well.
