SP Page Builder 9 months ago

Hello and a Happy Belated New Year

I have encountered a problem with my website from my design http://www.bncplumbingcompany.com/

I created my website using RSNoticia! version 2.0.4 along with SP Page Builder version 5.4.4

I have developed an issue with my indexing Both the Search Console & my SE Ranking app have identified that some of my pages on my site are not being indexed due to the following reason: ”Duplicate without user-selected canonical”…the 2 pages causing the issue in question are the

MY Home Page is NOT considered the homepage https://www.bncplumbingcompany.com/ has the canonical tag of (which I know is wrong) <link rel="canonical" href="/https://www.bncplumbingcompany.com/index.php/edit/22" />

The Other Page that is considered the home page that conflicting is https://www.bncplumbingcompany.com/index.php/edit/22 also has the SAME canonical tag of <link rel="canonical" href="/https://www.bncplumbingcompany.com/index.php/edit/22" />

…the” index.php/edit/22 part“ gets created/added when I go into the edit mode on the homepage http://www.bncplumbingcompany.com/ I DID NOT CREATE THAT PAGE the editor did

https://www.bncplumbingcompany.com/index.php has all 22 pages on my website refer/fall inline with https://www.bncplumbingcompany.com/index.php/edit/22 making it seem like that is my home page and that is what is causing the error…

I just cannot access https://www.bncplumbingcompany.com/ by itself “to tag it correctly” as when I go to edit mode in sp page builder it brings up https://www.bncplumbingcompany.com/index.php/edit/22

I originally added my canonical tags using the “raw html” inside SP Page Builder to added them the pages I was working on

I have tried everything over the holiday to fix this I have tried multiple redirects pointing https://www.bncplumbingcompany.com/index.php/edit/22 to https://www.bncplumbingcompany.com and I did them through .htaccess file in my joomla file manager but that did not solve the issue in fact made it worse

should I not add the canonical tag with the raw html and instead use a 3rd party app?

can you please provide me some direction on how I would go about fixing my indexing error I have literally tried everything i could find on the web and I cannot find a solution …

thank you and again Happy New Year Gary

Hello GARY J HOHLER

We do not have any option to select canonical tags on SP Page Builder. It is not our product issue I assume. Please try any third-party Canonical tag generator and check your issue.

Best regards

In general links with "/index.php/edit/22 " shouldn't be indexed by Google.

Do you have more similar links, or only one?

Extra SEO tip:

  1. In Google Search Console remove all this kinds of links using "Removals" add URL.
  2. Check your website sitemap and if you have any of those, remove them.

I only have the one "/index.php/edit/22 " which I know shouldn't be indexed by Google.

in google search console should I have it removed or how would I go about not having that page indexed?

Reason I know that is the problem my SE Ranking app states that I have 2 URLs with duplicate page titles...hence my indexing problem https://www.bncplumbingcompany.com/

https://www.bncplumbingcompany.com/index.php

Thank You Gary

Gary, If you have Joomla 5.2 there, check & use all new features that are inside "System - SEF" plugin.

Probably Google indexed that link by mistake, happends.
