SPPB 5.5.2: Cannot Apply Changes When Editing In Text Element "source Mode" In Frontend, But Can In Backend

Not sure it this bug is new with SP PB V5.5.2 or some earlier version. Recorgnized it in 5.5.2

I need to edit the text of a text box in source mode. When I do this in the backend page editor, I cannot save the changes because the "Apply" button is not visible and the editor popup does not allow to scroll down (no scroll bar shown). However, if I do the same in the frontend page editor, I can well scroll down and make the "apply" button visible.

Hello Peter Hunkeler,

Thank you for reaching out to our technical support forum. I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’re experiencing.

I have checked Text Block addon from both editor. But I have not found any issue. Please share a screenshot of your issue to understand it better. Take a screenshot and share via any platform. For example: Lightshot or Imgur

Best regards

  1. in Backend page editor, select text box element, then source editor:

  1. There is no Apply button within the browers viewport, nor is there a scroll bar:

I work with with Firefox 135.0.1 (mint-001 - 1.0), but to be sure I just tested with Chromium (Version 133.0.6943.126 (Official Build) for Linux Mint (64-bit)). Same wrong behaviour

Sorry, I have not found any issue. I have also checked with Mozilla Firefox.

Please share your administrator access here to check the issue. Use the Hidden Content box to share the credentials. Make sure that you have a full site backup before sharing.

I'm afraid I can't share admin access.

Okay, then please check if you have any third-party system plugin (specially editor). Disable and then check the issue. Also, clear your Joomla cache and Browser's cache and then check. If possible, then check with multiple browsers.

Thanks for coming backing to this. I already tested with Firefox and Chromium (see earlier post), and I have also deactivated all add-ons in Fireforx (there are non in Chromium). Will have to check after clearfing the cache, but I doubt its a cache problen, since in I had never before worked with SP PB in Chromiun.

Anyway, I'll do more tests eventually.

Thanks for asking. Yes, I just recently found out that I need to zoom out (Ctrl + -) the page in Firefox and full popup including the "Apply" button appears.

So somehow SP Page Buuilder thinks the Firefox window, or the visible canvas, is higher that it acually is, and the popup window has a too large height.

Before marking as "accepted", don't you think there is something wrong in the SPPB code incalculatin the heigth of the popup?

I have checked it. In both browsers, I can see it working. I have not faced the issue. Please update your SP Page Builder version and check it.

Hello, I have installed the newest SPPB Version 5.7.0, and tested again. Problem still persists. I have tested with Firefox and Chromium under Linux (Mint 22) and Firefox and Chrome under Windows 10. Windows 10 both on my laptop and on a desktop.

Problem seems to be related to screen dimensions, somehow.

My laptop has a 1920x1080 display. The problem persist both on Linux and Windows, and with different browsers.

My desktop monitor has a 1920x1200 display. With this setting, the problem does not exist. However, when I switch screen resolution in windows to say 1440x900, the problem appears also on this machine. The origin of the popup is further down the screen and the bottom falls out of the browser window.

Not sure how you calculate the height of the popup, but for some configurations, it seems to result in a too large heigth.

Can you share a full screen screenshot of the issue? I will ask the team to check it.

So here are some screenshots.

First on shows browser (Firefox) not running in full screen mode at standard zoom level (Ctrl+0):

The souce code popup extends beyopond the bottom of the browser window.

Next, in this very state, I zoom out, i.e I press Ctrl+- twice and the Apply button appears:

Next, I close the source code popup, then press Ctrl-0, followed by one Ctrl+-, i.e. from standard zoom level, I zoom out once, then open the source code popup:

Notice that the Apply button appears partially at the bottom. Also note that the top left corner of the source code popup is placed far more to the top of the browser window. Completely different calculation results, it seems.

Next one is the same as the previous, except that from standard zoom level. I pressed Ctrl+- twice before opening the source code popup.

Next, I go back to standard zoom level, then switch the browser to full screen mode, and then open the source code popup:

And finally, I zoomout by pressing Ctrl+- once:

Apply button becomes visible.

Hope your developers will be able to reproduce that strange behaviour.
