SP Page Builder 403 Error

KV

Kimmo Vallema

SP Page Builder 5 months ago

Trying to delete a page in the SPPB and I get 403 error. Same thing if I try to edit a page and save the changes. These errors are coming when editing in the backend.

If I try to edit in the frontend, I click on SAVE and it just keeps trying....forever.

Best regards, Kimmo Vallema

Hi Kimmo,

Thanks for reporting the issue.

The 403 error you’re seeing in SP Page Builder is likely caused by server-side security — specifically, ModSecurity or firewall rules that are blocking legitimate requests in the Joomla admin panel.

Please ask your hosting provider to disable ModSecurity and any related firewall rules for the affected URL. This should resolve the issue and allow SP Page Builder to function properly again.

Best regards,

I have already turned off the mod_security with <IfModule mod_security.c> SecFilterEngine Off SecFilterScanPOST Off </IfModule>

at the same time the host verifies that there has not been any changes to the system since 10.3.2025 and this SAVE-problem exists now since about a week...potentially around the same time I installed the last version of SPPB

Best regards, Kimmo

I have also seen some errors in the Joomla Logfiles

No asset found for com_sppagebuilder.page.8, falling back to com_sppagebuilder
No asset found for com_sppagebuilder.page.15, falling back to com_sppagebuilder

that seem to happen every time I for example try to delete a SPPB Page

when I open a page in SPPB additional errors show up and when I try to save there, more errors.

ok ...fair enough.....I still won't have enough to go to the host....just to say "it does not work" is not really helpful for them

If the issue is on our product, I’ll definitely help you resolve it. However, if the problem lies with your hosting, I won’t be able to control or fix it. If you’d like, I can send you a screencast as proof.

Thanks.

I am having the same issue - most editing actions result in a "Request failed with status code 403" error display as well.

I am using SP Page Builder 5.5.7. I've cleared cache etc and it still happens.

I don't see any error logs on apache however.

I found out that our mailserver was suspected of spamming (happens with shared hosting) and therefore overriding restrictions were done on more or less anything that leads to POST-actions. I showed them that we are not spamming from our software (mail-logs etc) and reinforcing reCAPTCHA etc. on all of our forms and they agreed to take the restrictions down (for now...should the situation come again, they will put them back in). Now everything works. I was not able to see anything specific in the logs either as I suspect I was only able to see logs related to my account on the host and not the server-logs for machine doing the shared hosting.
