Helix Framework 3 months ago

Unfortunately i allowed a J3 site to upgrade to Helix 2.2.0 and it stuffed up the website.

I ahev managed to get it foing by diabling the plugin "System - Helix Ultimate Framework" and switching the template back to Protostar.

I have tried to reinstall Helix 2.1.2 which is the oldest version i have downloaded but thsi does not fix the problem. It looks like a i need an old version of the framework to reinstall

Sadly I cant find anywhere on your website to download old versiosn of the Helix template or the helix framework. Can you provide links to the last version of the template vere 2.1.3 and the framework that works on J3 please

Hi Adrian,

Let’s be honest — you’re using Joomla 3 at your own risk. Besides, as a professional webmaster, you should read the Helix documentation before hitting the update button, and make sure you have a full website backup. Am I right?

Full template (2.1.3) package >> https://limewire.com/d/TXq29#kS5cs6I1Ge (7 days)

If you reach the "everything’s stuffed, panic mode" stage, just flick me access to the back end — I’ll sort you out.

Anyway, now I have to upgrade it and I have the same isssue. When I am tryin to update all extensions as suggested it ask to update to 2.2.1 but when I update it breaks the website.

Can you also provide me template package which is compatible to upgrade from J3 to J4 and then J4 to J5.

Thank you.

About K2, you need migrator that will convert all K2 items into Artciles. As I remember it was a commercial extension ($).

Helix Ultimate 2.1.3 should work in J3 and J4.

Anyway, you can always switch to Joomla default template for time of migration/upgrade. And then just install a new Helix version and set it as default. It works!

I did eventually find a fix

I had a copy of ShackFixFramework.zip the fixed the framework issue.

It would be nice if you were to retain backward capability with J3 or at least prevent your non J3 compliant releases from installing on J3 (most other developers do one or the other) Relasing a version that is not compatable with J3 and letting it install on J3 was not a good idea. There are many reasons why websites are stuck at J3 an may remain there for a very long time.

All Webmaster should know that they are using Joomla 3 on their own responsibility. And each extension or template update is risky (!) I am in that bussiness since Mambo & Joomla 1.0 and I know why etc. but rule is the same: first CHECK & THINK, then UPDATE.

The best way on Joomla 3 is not to update anything, and focus on content only (!) Just disable update possibility in J3, and sleep well.

The end.
