SP Page Builder 1 month ago

Hi, Since I upgraded SP Page Builder Pro to latest version I get the message "error failed with status 500 code" each time I edit a field in the editor. (text field - gallery - heading ....) I cleared the cache frommy browser and website, I reintstalled SP Page Builder Pro but the problem persists. Is there anything I can do to resolve this problem.

Thx, Jan De Wachter Belgium

Thank you for sharing your concerns, and we truly appreciate your positive approach and understanding.

Regarding the PHP memory requirement, unfortunately it isn’t possible for us to reduce the memory usage of SP Page Builder simply by making small adjustments. SP Page Builder is a long-established product with a large user base, and its architecture has been built and expanded over many years. Changing the overall structure now would require a complete redesign of the extension. This would not only affect stability, but also break compatibility for thousands of existing users who rely on the current architecture.

As the product evolves, new features and improved functionality naturally require more server resources. This is a common pattern with most modern page builders and visual editors. We always try to optimize where possible, but there is a technical limit to how much memory usage can be reduced without compromising essential features or performance.

We fully understand that hosting limitations can be challenging, especially for users with smaller budgets. However, at this stage, lowering the memory requirement is not technically feasible without rebuilding the entire extension from the ground up — something that would take years and cause significant disruption for existing websites.

That said, we are continuously working on performance improvements and optimizations so users like you can still enjoy the best possible experience.

Thank you again for your feedback and your continued support.

Hello De Wachter,

Sorry for the inconvenience you're experiencing.

To help resolve this "Error Failed With Status 500 Code" issue, could you please provide temporary administrative access to your site? This will allow me to investigate the problem directly.

Before you do, I highly recommend creating a full backup of your site to ensure your data is secure.

Looking forward to your response.

Hi,

This issue is related to the server’s PHP memory allocation. Please contact your hosting provider and ask them to increase the memory_limit to 512M or higher.

This requirement is also mentioned in the SP Page Builder technical documentation

Once the memory limit is increased, the problem should be resolved.

Best regards

I upgraded my hosting package to meet the minimum technical requirements for SP PageBuilder Pro (php memory 256 or 512M). According to you, that was the cause of the error 500 code. The upgrade cost me a lot of money, and now it appears the problem is still occurring. Could you take another look at what's causing the problem and suggest a solution, please?

Thank you for your patience. I apologize for the delayed response, as I was away on vacation. May I take a full site backup so I can investigate the issue in my local development environment? I look forward to your confirmation.

Hi, I contacted my hosting provider, the largest webhosting they provide is with 256 MB PHP Memory. This hosting is a lot more expensive then my current hosting package. I understand that SP Page Builder Pro is evolving and offers more and more functionality. However, I find it somewhat contradictory that I purchased SP Page Builder Pro precisely because I have little technical knowledge, yet I can still create beautiful websites using the component. Last time, I also suggested reducing the database space used by SP Page Builder Pro, as it currently consumes a lot of memory. Is there a solution for the PHP memory problem, please? If not, I'll have to prepare myself for not being able to use SP Page Builder anymore, which I would truly regret. This answer is meant to be positive, and hopefully, it can help many smaller users with limited financial resources still benefit from this wonderful product. Thank you in advance.
