Quickstart (demo) Installation

It should be installed like Joomla 4 itself, step by step. It is not possible to install the Quickstart package inside an existing Joomla 4.x installation (website) via the Extension Manager. Because the Quickstart also includes the Joomla core itself. This package is strictly for use with a new Joomla! installation to provide you with a duplicate of our demo for that particular template. Remember that QuickStart may not include photos that you may see on the demo site.

Warning! The QuickStart package cannot be installed through the Joomla Extension Manager.

You have to install Quickstart just like a typical Joomla 4.x installation process, with all the typical steps.  Alternative, and more detailed QS installation guide.

Preparations

  1. Check to ensure that you and your web host have the minimum requirements to run Joomla and QuickStart.
  2. Downloading the most current version of the Quickstart package (TemplateName_quickstart_j4_x.x.zip).
  3. Unzipping the downloaded file to a folder on your hard drive.
  4. Create a new database using the database wizard in cPanel and assign a database user full permissions. We suggest using a new/fresh database (MySQL) for all QS installations. But yes, you can use the current ("old") database one as well, but with a new prefix only.
  5. Remove index.html file from the root folder - if you have it.
  6. Delete configuration.php file from the root folder - if you have it.
  7. Upload the extracted QuickStart folders and files to the desired location on your web server (the root directory | public_html folder mostly. To transfer files from your computer to a web server, you need special SFTP/FTP software, for example, FileZilla - which can be a good choice.
  8. Keep this FTP/SFTP connection open so you have it handy during the installation.

Installing procedure

  1. Open your browser and navigate to your main domain (i.e. https://mydomain.com), or to the appropriate subdomain (i.e https://new.mydomain.com), depending on where you have uploaded the Joomla installation package.
  2. You will be taken to the first screen of the Joomla Web Installer.
  3. Please do not use "admin" as your default Super Admin Username (!).
  4. Use something more unique during the installation process - security reasons.
  5. Default Demo sample data will be automatically installed on your server.
  6. After a successful installation, you should see a successful message.
  7. Remove the index.html file from the root folder - if you have it.
  8. Rename htaccess.txt into .htaccess - SEO and security reasons.
  9. Login to admin area https://www.domain.com/administrator or https://www.new.domain.com/administrator.
