Joomla Update Breaks Quickstart Overrides

I built a website starting off Gazette's quickstart package. I just updated to the latest joomla version and a lot of the initial formatting is now gone, with joomla listing more than 100 overrides-containing files that were overwritten. Is this supposed to happen like that? Can this be reverted? Thanks

Apology for the inconvenience. But I am afraid that it is not reversible. Only possible if you have a backup with you. Then you can restore the backup. Please follow this documentation for Helix override system.

Accepted AnswerNot at all. You can obviously update. Always check the changelog for compatibility with Joomla, PHP etc. versions.
Also, before any major update, keep a site backup for safety.
