Quickstart And Joomla Update

I have a problem with several websites that were built using Quickstart packages. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to update Joomla on those sites because the menu, layout, and various content elements break after the update. For example, I have a website running on Joomla 4.4.6 that cannot be updated to 4.4.14 because many things stop working correctly. It uses the Shaper_Finance Quickstart package.
I also have a website based on the Shaper_Kidzy template, installed as a Quickstart. The Joomla version is 5.1.4, and I cannot update it to 5.4.7 because the entire layout breaks again. It’s also impossible to update SP Page Builder or the Shaper_Kidzy template itself.
Because of this, I don’t see the purpose of Quickstart packages if nothing can be updated after installation. Several of my websites were compromised not due to negligence, but simply because updating anything — even Joomla itself — breaks the entire site.
I believe this practice is problematic, and that Quickstart packages don’t make much sense, and from a security perspective they are actually quite dangerous.

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

To better understand the issue and investigate the cause, could you please provide some additional details?

It would be helpful if you could share screenshots showing:

  • The issues occurring after the Joomla update (broken layouts, menus, or content elements).
  • Any error messages or warnings displayed.
  • The affected pages before and after the update, if available.

Additionally, please provide the Joomla version, template version, SP Page Builder version, and any relevant extension versions for the affected websites.

With these details, we can better identify whether the issue is related to template compatibility, extension conflicts, overrides, or another configuration issue.

Thanks
