Why My Megamenu is Not Displaying

I am not figuring out how to get my megamenu to display at http://test1.theraliv.org

I created a Secondary Menu like you have in the Gazette Quickstart. I have not been able to figure out how to assign it to display in the space below the logo.

Can you please help me to understand what I am doing wrong?

I also created a module using SP Tabbed Articles that matches the New module in the quickstart. But, I have also not been able to display that because I can't even see the Megamenu.

I have read the documentation about megamenus on your documentation site but have still not figured it out.

Thanks for any help or guidance.

The megamenu is working now. The solution was a change in the database which was resolved in ticket https://www.joomshaper.com/forum/question/19246

Hi Sean,

create me user account that is working fine, please double check!

Username and password do not match or you do not have an account yet.

Paul, Please accept my apologies. I had created the login and password for you on the wrong site. I just changed the password because it needed to be longer. I will go try this one out momentarily. If it does not work immediately, I will make it work. I am putting the information into the Hidden Content field.

Paul,

Once I realized that I had created your account on the wrong test site, I thought that possibly all the work and changes I did was also to the wrong site. I was about to tell you all was well because I added the main menu to the template and it displayed. But, then I tried to add some modules to the mega menu and every time I tried to save the modules, it deleted my row that contained the Menu. So, then I had to add it again. I have added and had it deleted quite a few times.

Here is how this can be reproduced:

  1. Open Template Options for the Shaper_Gazette - Default site template
  2. Click on Layout Builder tab on the left hand column of the popup windows.
  3. In the row below the Header row and above the Main Body row and name it Main Menu. Make sure it is not fluid width
  4. Apply changes
  5. Edit the light blue row to select Menu to diplay in that row
  6. Apply the changes and click the Save button in the top right. (The menu will then appear on the page.
  7. Now return to the navigation bar at the left and select the Navigation option.
  8. Select the Secondary Menu to edit
  9. Select the Jewish Life top level Mega Menu icon to edit it.
  10. You can see that I managed to get the Tab Arts - Jewish Life module to display
  11. Cancel
  12. Select theL'Chaim top level Mega Menu icon to edit it.
  13. Add the Tab Arts 0 L'Chaim module to display
  14. Click Save
  15. Now Save at the top of the page
  16. Close out the top right X to return to the backend

Hmmm... after all of that description it did NOT fail. Although the two modules do not look anything like they do in the Quickstart.

I am going to post this to this ticket in case the problem occurs again. But, at this point it did not reproduce this time.

OK. The problem did just return. I went to the Site Modules management area and duplicated the two Tab Arts modules adding two more. Once is Tab Arts - Isreal and the other is Tab Arts - Torah.

then, when I returned to the home page the horizontal menu was gone again.

So, I returned to the Template Options and discovered that the Main Menu row that I had just added had been changed to where it had no values any more. It just says 'title' in the blue box.

So, yes, something is very broken and I can't keep my menu.

Paul, I think we need to disregard this ticket until I do one more step that may be why I am having problems. I had not exported the JSON file for the template from your quickstart and then imported it into the development site. These instructions were given to me in my ticket "Easiest Way To Get Your Quickstart Template And Page Builder Layouts Onto My Current Site".

I am going to try that now.

Ok, but remember that it will import only basic settings for template, NO DEMO content after.

I am hoping this link will show you how the Layout Builder Layout settings are different even though I Exported the settings from the screen on the right (test3.theraliv.org) and Imported the settings into the screen on the left (test1.theraliv.org) https://drive.google.com/file/d/183GwhjrJQbskrwp31bL8RM4nGTzO-ACV/view?usp=sharing BTW, I have another ticket with this same information in it which is being looked at by Ofi.

So, I suggest that you don't have to reply here since he will be replying there at the following ticket: https://www.joomshaper.com/forum/question/19114

I sure hope you can look at this today. This has me 100% stopped in my tracks and unable to proceed.

BTW, I am using PHP Version 8.1.12 in case that makes a difference to your software. Should I back down to an older version like 8.0.25?

yes, all settings from Template, Layout grid as well. At least in theory. If not, you have to compare with documenation and add missing rows, columns. That process should take you 3 min max.

Yes, with PHP 8.1 there might be problems, but ... only if we talk about views, not settings in generals.

So if everything works on PHP 8.1 it's your victory, you just have to be attentive and associate facts

Paul, I have spent many hours adding the rows. That is fast and easy but the rows keep disappearing after I add another row with a module in it. That is what I have been documenting. I am going to move back from PHP 8.1 and will let you know if that fixes the issues.
