Upgrade To Joomla 4

SP Page Builder 1 year ago

My site is currently on Joomla 3 and using SPPB v3.

I want to create a new, fresh install of Joomla 4 and migrate all of my SPPB content to the new site (pages, images etc.)

I do not want to perform an in line upgrade from J3 to J4.

How should I approach this?

I'll answer my own question after a month.

Is there any other way I can migrate things in bulk?

No.

Hi there!

Thanks for your query.

You can make use of the export/import function of SP Page Builder to move SPPB pages only. Here is doc:

https://www.joomshaper.com/documentation/sp-page-builder/sp-page-builder-3/export-import-and-save-how-to-reuse-custom-designs

You have to use SP Page Builder Pro 3.8 or a newer version in Joomla 4.

You can start with Quickstart either if it is feasible for you:

https://www.joomshaper.com/blog/how-to-install-quickstart-package-in-joomla-4

The following can be helpfull either:

https://www.joomshaper.com/blog/how-to-install-joomla-on-localhost

I would prefer to upgrade from Joomla 3 to 4 though: https://www.joomshaper.com/blog/how-to-update-your-site-to-joomla-4

Note: Please take full site backup before trying anything.

Hope this helps!

Best Regards

Thanks.

That document states

Saved file doesn't contain images, mp4 nor attachments inside - only links to those resources.

Obviously, most of my pages contain images. So, how do I deal with this?

Also, I have hundreds of pages. This seems like a lot of effort. Is there any other way I can migrate things in bulk?
