Still Problems With The Search After Migration To Joomla4

Hello Joomshaper, after migration to joomla4, the search modules can only be used to a limited extent. For example, you can no longer edit the text in the search box. The placeholder MOD_FINDER_SEARCH_VALUE can't be changed. Only the topsearch position works, all other positions no longer work at all. Maybe you have a tip, I would be really appreciated.
Best, Jens

As I said, in Joomla 4 Search works in legacy mode only, but it's a Joomla thing topic, not ours.

Have you tried to override phrase "MOD_FINDER_SEARCH_VALUE" for default languages, I mean DE, EN

Use Language Overrides

Hi Jens,

  1. Joomla 4 support only SmartSearch (Finder), the old Search component & module may work only in legacy mode & limited range. I think you read about that on Joomla website. That's why old search shouldn't be used anymore.
  2. About placeholder it depends if that module was overriden inside your template or not. What template (full name) you are using?

I checked both Helix3 and Helix Ultimate template (framework) and mod_finder wasn't overriden by us. Only com_finder was.

Hello Paul, obviously, after the migration to Joomla4, the old com_search component remained. This should probably have been uninstalled beforehand. But there was no indication of this. Because it is not included in a new installation. But although SmartSearch is activated, only the TopSearch position works for the Educon template. And the placeholder MOD_FINDER SEARCH_VALUE cannot be overwritten via the module. Best, Jens P.S.: TopSearch (top right on the website)

Thank you, that's how it works, too. Best, Jens
