Template Vs Layout

SP Page Builder 4 months ago

Hello. I want to use this Layout, but thought it was available as a quick start download. Doesn't look like it is.

How would I set this up from scratch before importing layouts into SP Builder?

Joomla SPBuilder Helix anything else?

Thanks

It depends, becuase you can use Casopea template as well.

Helix Ultimate is template, and by default it has header with (logo+menu) and footer.

About header you can use predefined or build you own.

Hello Rashida.

Thank you for the links.

Don't I have to install Helix and template for the layouts to work?

Hi

Thanks for contacting us. As you may already know, Joomla templates control the general appearance of the website, and layout bundles are imported into SP Page Builder as pre-made page layouts. In other words, templates regulate the global framework and layout bundles contain ready-made designs of pages. Please go to SPPB pages --> https://prnt.sc/eWPFLp2PKG0j --> https://prnt.sc/nbqIQGFRI5KV

-Regards.

Thanks. I understand this part. I'm asking about implementing the top menu system and footer. Does Helix need to be installed?

Hi,

You can use SP Page Builder Pro with any Joomla template in theory. But, SPPB better suits with Helix Ultimate Framework as well as template. So yes, you can install Helix Ultimate from here:

https://www.joomshaper.com/joomla-templates/helixultimate

If you have any confusion about the template pack and the quickstart pack then you may have a look into the following documentation section:

https://www.joomshaper.com/documentation/helix-framework/introduction#template-vs-quickstart

In general, Helix Ultimate comes with SPPB lite, so you will need to install SPPB pro there after you have install the template. Then you will get all the layouts right within your SPPB.

Moreover, SP Page Builder works with contents that appears within the conponent area, while with Helix you can control the contents, that are outside of the component area(such as header, footer, etc).

If there is anything left that you need to know about or you have confusion, kindly do let me know. I will try to help you out.

Best regards,

@Rashida, would it be safe to say It seems that a JoomShaper template is pretty much a collection of page layouts and sections that are themed for color and style for consistency?

I ask because we have a site built on Helix Ultimate, but now we want to re-design and modernize the look. I'm trying to figure out if there is any advantage to buying a template for the pretty page layouts and color theming, or if I should just use my SPPB Pro's existing layout bundles and section blocks aready there.

It would be nice if the layout bundles were cross-walked to your existing templates so I could windowshop across the templates for ideas, and then build out exactly what I want from there with pre-configured page layouts in SPPB Pro.

I value your insight and feedback.

Hi @Allen,

Thanks for your query.

If you are using SP Page Builder Pro with the Helix Ultimate template, then yes you can use any of the layout bundles available in SP Page Builder Pro.

Helix Ultimate is our latest framework, and most of our recent templates are built on it. The Pro templates include some exclusive design customizations and occasionally extra SP Page Builder addons that are developed specifically for those templates. These exclusive features are only available within the respective template’s QuickStart package.

You might also notice that each template has its own unique blog style. If you find a specific design you like, you can go ahead with the corresponding QuickStart pack from the link below:

Thanks for your feedback.

I'm not sure how your quickstart packages work, but I fear installing one will corrupt my current site. Please advise.

In other words, if I purchase, download, and install a quickstart package, does it simply make the themed pages available in pagebuilder and leave the default menu setting as-is without interfering with current site pages and navigation, or does it wipe my current site and set itself as the default template?

Hi Allen,

Though I have explained about template pack and quickstart pack above of this post, however, I am trying to clear the fact again.

If you have any confusion about the template pack and the quickstart pack then you may have a look into the following documentation section:

https://www.joomshaper.com/documentation/helix-framework/introduction#template-vs-quickstart

Quickstart cannot be installed within your existing site, only a template pack can be.

Hi Rashida,

This last bit you just mentioned, "Quickstart cannot be installed within your existing site, only a template pack can be," is pretty important as it relates to you to get a QuickStart package quickstart package with, "You might also notice that each template has its own unique blog style. If you find a specific design you like, you can go ahead with the corresponding QuickStart pack from the link below: https://www.joomshaper.com/joomla-templates".

Fact check: This is indeed the first time you presented this fact that makes your original recommendation unfeasible. This is a new fact, so no, you were not pretty clear. Thes for the new clarification, however.

With my fears now confirmed regarding existing site corruption from a QuickStart Package, could the workaround be installing the Quickstart to a staging site, copy resource files over, and then export/import page configurations from staging to live? I rechecked your previous recommendations, and do not see this question addressed.

Hi Allen,

As you said, you want to re-design and modernize the look and wanted to know about templates, that'll completely redesign it and start from scratch, hence suggested the quuickstart page lately. If your existing site build with SPPB Pages, then still you can take advantage of the export/import feature of SPPB pages. With this you can export your existing SPPB pages and import them in your new site if you consider quickstart in a fresh blank space.

Documentation link for SPPB:

https://www.joomshaper.com/documentation/sp-page-builder/export-import-and-save-for-later-use

For Helix Ultimate:

https://www.joomshaper.com/documentation/helix-framework/advanced#import-and-export

Hope it is a bit clearer now.

Let me know, if you have anymore queries. I will try to elaborate on that.

Best regards,
