For anybody getting the error "Facebook SDK returns an error SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate," I was able to solve this by clearing my joomla system cache. Hope that helps!

Hello Luca,

Thank you for reaching out to our technical support forum. I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’re experiencing.

Please follow this documentation. I have also made a tutorial on How to setup Instagram Gallery Addon. Please follow the steps in the tutorial. Make sure that you have checked the additional steps in the description too.

Also, check that if you have System - HTTP Header plugin enabled, then use this setting.

Hy... yes i had followed all instruvtion provided and i've still enabled http headers ad described. everything was working fine until a few days ago...

Perhaps an error with the SSL certificate on the domain server? I'll check further...

one question: i need Web Service CORS enabled?

Good observation. Please check the issue after enabling CORS. Also, check this plugin settings.

You must select same origin allow popups.

It seems that your site has SSL certificate issue. Please check this discussion:

https://developers.facebook.com/community/threads/1067949248803199/

Please contact your hosting provider and fix your SSL certificate.

hy, I contacted the hosting provider and checked the SSL certificate. now they tell me: "The problem is probably related to how SP Page Builder (the Joomla! plugin) manages the internal session. I see that you are using PHP version 8.3 on the circebuonacucina.it website.

PHP 8.3 has changed some internal functions related to sessions and cookie management.

Outdated versions of SP Page Builder are no longer able to save the session state correctly, failing the CSRF check and giving the error encountered.

Proceed to the backend to update SP Page Builder to the latest released version: many bugs on Instagram and state have been fixed in this regard.

Alternatively, you can try temporarily downgrading the PHP version to 8.2 or 8.1 (PHP icon in the site management panel), thus avoiding the update."

My problem now is that:

  • I already have the latest version of SP Pagebuilder.
  • I tried downgrading PHP to version 8.1.

Nothing has changed; it still doesn't work.

Apology for the inconvenience. Please share your administrator access here to check the issue. Use the Hidden Content box to share the credentials. Make sure that you have a full site backup before sharing.

I have used my Facebook app configuration on your site but got the same error.

Please check this error again

There are some issues with your SSL certificate. Please talk to your hosting provider on this topic.

I contacted the service provider as requested... I'll send you the results of the tests performed by the server. The SSL/TLS connection to the Instagram server works flawlessly: SSL certificate verify ok The server responded correctly via HTTP/2. The error encountered by the test is exclusively related to the access token: Invalid OAuth 2.0 Access Token The server does not appear to have any certificate or TLS compatibility issues, and cURL or OpenSSL are not blocked.

The Joomla plugin is failing because it is likely using an expired/invalid Instagram token. Please generate a new Instagram Long-Lived Token from https://developers.facebook.com/ and replace it in your site's Joomla! plugin.

... but i don't now how to do :(

My facebook app does not work on your site. But it works on my site. The issue must be on your hosting provider. It is not related to your or my facebook apps.

Please try your Facebook app settings in another website or change your hosting provider.

Hi Luca, yes, the Joomla admin area system cache (although clearing the server cache is probably not a bad idea).

Here's the steps I tried in my troubleshooting:

  • upgrade to latest Joomshaper
  • upgrade to latest SP Page Builder
  • enable system http header plugin with settings suggested by Ofi Khan
  • renew server SSL certificate
  • clear joomla cache (this is where is started to work for me)
