1. Old version of files you should have in website backup. Your hosting provider keep them for 10-14 days. Besides, many users have old versions of downloaded files in browser "Download" folder.
2. New Helix update is only for new Joomla versions. It will not work in J3 sites. For J4 is not needed.
3. You didn't share any detailed info what is wrong , what does it mean "crashes the website." ??? so we don't know how to help.
