Mega Menu Not Working

Template 2 years ago

I am trying to add a mega-menu to a new website but it just isn't working. Each time I save the mega menu all the menu items get mixed up (some dissapear, some are added etc). Once the menu has been saved I then can't add / re-add any missing menu items. If I create a new row in the mega-menu it doesn't contain any menu-items at all.

I am using the Pitech template with Joomla 4.3.3. I was using Page Builder Pro 3.8.10 with the Pitech template versoion 1.0, but I have now updated to the latest versions - Page Builder Pro 5.0.1 and Pitech 1.0.1.

I have provided admin access to the site via the hidden content box.

Can you please help asap as we are on a deadline!

Hi there!

Thanks for the access.

I have checked your services megamenu window, and there are three rows I can see. Do you want them all? All the 11 sub menus of services are visible in the first row.

I have created a new menu named as "testf", choose services as parent menu and the testf menu item is visible in the megamenu window as well as in the site.

I left the changes for you to check as I was able to edit the megamenu each time successfully.

Hi Rashida,

Thanks for your reply, but either I'm doing something daft or you are missunderstanding my problem. Can you please try to create the mega menu with 3 rows and the following menu items and maybe you will see the problems I am facing.

ROW 1 (3 columns)

  1. Inspection 2. Surveying 3.Modelling

ROW 2 (3 Colums)

  1. Constuction 2. Infrastructure 3. Asset Management

ROW 3 (2 Colums)

  1. Aerial LiDAR 2. Digital Surface / Terrain Model
  2. Drone Inspection 2. Thermal Imaging

Please let me know what you find as I can't create this!

Thanks

Hi,

I have made a short video to help demonstrate the problems I'm having. You should hopefully see that I can't re-organise the mega-menu as needed. When I save the menu with a new layout, the menu items are all mixed up.

Hi Michael Waxman,

I am really sorry for the delayed response.

I have rearranged your submenu items there, as you can see they should be organized as columns in the menu building section, otherwise they rearranged by itself because they have the same parent menu item. Now I have created 3 submenu items under the services main menu item, and then assigned the sub-sub menu items under each column submenu item.

Please check and let me know if it's okay now or not.

Best Regards

or completely gone, or only a part can be seen. The problem also occurs with the new Page Builder 5 for me. Haven't found a solution yet and the support from the ticket says I should post it here in the forum. As if that helps. :-) I think they have completely different problems, and there are a number of unsolved construction sites that are troubling them. Changeover to PHP 8. With 8.1 it already seems to be working to some extent for the most part. With PHP 8.2 comes the next construction site.

Hi Rashida,

Thanks for getting back to me. I hadn't realised that each column needs a different parent item, so that solves my immediate problem. It does create another problem though as I don't want all the menu items to have different url's. e,g. I have a long list of 'technology' pages which I want to appear in the same folder, but as they will be displayed on the mege menu in 2 colums, they will need to be split into two groups with different parent menu items.

This isn't a big problem I guess, as we could create each menu item as menu item alias, or develop some modules. At least we know the mega menu is working as it should.

Thanks.

Hi Rashida,

I think I spoke too soon. I'm trying to create a simple mega menu with 3 rows. The first and second row will be split into 3 colums each and the third row will be split into 2 colums. I figured I would start by organising the menu under 3 parent menu items - 1 for each row - and then create a menu menu - starting with just one column in each row.

Sadly I can't seem to do this - each time I try to re-organise the menu items they get re-arranged.

Here's an image showing you what we need to acheieve. Is this possible with your mega menu or do we need to develop something seperately?

For now I just want to get the menu items in the right sections before I get them styled. Am I doing something wrong or is the mega-menu not behaving as it should? Maybe we should create modules for each section to manage the menu items? Please advise. Your prompt help would be appreciated as we need to make progress with this ASAP.

Hello Michael Waxman,

You need to think it coulmn wise, not row.

The following blog post may help you:
