In the blog post here, you can see a note at the bottom of the blog.

However, we highly recommend everyone not to use Helix Ultimate 2.x.x on any existing site as the templates are not compatible yet, even we have added Joomla compatibility tag on every templates on our site.

Please rollback to the previous Helix Ultimate version below 2.x.x and wait for the templates compatibility.

That warning message only appears on the blog regarding Helix 2.0.3 not the blog for 2.0

So I (and probably many other members) upgraded according to the 2.0 blog post :(

My current template subscription has expired, does that mean I will need to renew my template subscription before I can upgrade to the latest version of Helix 2.x?

For the template update, you will need subscription. Helix update is free. You can do this without subscription anytime.
