Installation Guide

How to install SP LMS

SP LMS package file (com_splms_fullpackage_v3.x.zip) contains everything in one place (component + all modules and plugins). It can be installed from Joomla! backend default installer. After downloading the SP LMS extension from HERE, please follow these steps:

  • Log into your Joomla Control Panel.
  • Browse to System > System Information > PHP Information > upload_max_filesize. and kindly make sure that you can upload 3 MB files*.
  • From the top menu bar, go to Extensions and then click on Manage > Install.
  • Then browse to the Upload Package File tab, and drop the zip file of SP LMS.

Once SP LMS  has been installed, you will be presented with a message saying the installation process was successful. Immediately after that, you need to add your email and license key. Go to System > Global Configuration > SP LMS > License & Update to set it up.

How to create a Udemy like eLearning platform using Joomla

NOTE: There is usually an upper limit to the size of files that can be uploaded within the web server itself. This limit is set in the PHP configuration file (php.ini) and may differ between web servers and web hosts. The limit cannot be altered from within Joomla!. Some hosting companies do not allow the limit to be altered at all. To allow larger files to be uploaded it will probably be necessary to increase the upload_max_filesize and the post_max_size settings. Contact with your hosting support if you have problems with file uploading.

How to update SP LMS

SP LMS can be updated like any other Joomla! extensions just by installing a newer version on top of the current oneCaution: Do not uninstall the previous (or the current) version.

Please take a database backup before updating any Joomla components to prevent data loss in case any error occurs. (tip: you can use Akeeba for backup)

Steps to follow for updating SP LMS automatically

  • To install it automatically from the Joomla admin area, do the following:
    1. Go to Extensions: Update > click the "Clear cache" button (top left)
    2. Click the "Find Updates" button
    3. Mark SP LMS from the list
    4. Click "Update" to install the latest version

Or, to install the update manually, do the following:
Download the latest stable version from the download section and install it like any other extension in Joomla! To do that -

  1. Go to Extensions > Manage > Install
  2. Browse to the Upload Package File tab
  3. Now, drag and drop the sp_lms zip file (com_splms_fullpackage_v3.x)

Things to do after successfully updating SP LMS:

  • Clear the browser cache
  • Clear the Joomla cache as well
  • Update your template if SP LMS was included inside by default (If your template is YogaEducon, or Varsita, it is required to update the template to avoid compatibility issues with SP LMS 3)
